Usually they are, but leave it switched off — each restart asks more of a disk that is already struggling. Post the whole laptop, or lift the disk out and send just that. As-built surveys, drone photogrammetry and dated site photographs are worth the postage, because re-surveying a plot costs a good deal more than the job does. A single drive sits at £300 + VAT.
