Data recovery in Winslow. A new station, not open yet. Files come back a different way.
Winslow is a small market town in north Buckinghamshire with the Vale of Aylesbury villages spread round it — Swanbourne, Great Horwood, Granborough, the Claydons — and the A413 threading through between Aylesbury and Buckingham. East West Rail has built a station on the edge of it, though no trains call there yet. A failing drive still travels better by tracked post than by anything else, and the bench looks at it free of charge.

| A trail-camera card that came back unreadable | Farms and yards out here watch their gates with cameras | Leave the card exactly as it is and post it |
| A small firm's office machine, dead on a Monday | Village businesses buy one computer and keep it for a decade | Recovery from us, rebuild by IT |
| An external drive holding a village history society's scans | Decades of parish photographs, digitised once and never copied | The commonest parcel that lands on this bench |
| A two-bay NAS that has been mirroring onto one good disk | Mirrored sounds safe right up until both disks age together | Imaging comes first |
| A desktop killed by a winter power cut | Village supplies still drop when the weather turns | A surge usually stops at the board — send the drive intact |

Do you also cover Padbury and Steeple Claydon?
Winslow itself and the villages around it — Granborough, Swanbourne, Great Horwood, Steeple Claydon and the farms out across the Vale of Aylesbury. It all travels by post, so any Winslow postcode is a single tracked parcel from the bench.
Downtime isn't an option in our season — what can you do?
Tell us on the first call that trading has halted and the job goes to priority: examined the day it lands, then imaged without a break through working hours. That is what priority is there for when a busy season bites.
The camera calls the card corrupt — have I lost the photos?
Usually, no. Corruption tends to wreck the structure and leave the images below it intact; a formatted card holds its pictures until fresh frames are written over them. The deciding factor is stopping the moment you notice.
Sending a drive from around Winslow — what's safest?
Wrap it with padding on every side — the box it came in is perfect if you still have it — then send it tracked and insured with a printed shipping form inside. The contact page lists the steps; two minutes of packing and the courier does the rest.
